Park Place AME Church
In the early part of the century, the house at 144 20th Avenue in Munhall, on the fringe of Homestead, Pennsylvania was filled with the love of and talent of great music. It was the home of members of Park Place African Methodist Episcopal Church in Homestead. Catherine Cardwell Gardner who served as choir director for ???? years, renowned trailblazer Mary Cardwell Dawson the founder of the Negro Opera Company, and neighbor Jester Hairston, actor, composer, chorale director, world ambassador. They were all related and at one point were residents of that house. We celebrate their legacy with a musical tribute.
I will be accompanying on piano.
